Val Morsman in her Devon studio

Val Morsman was born in Kent in 1942 before living in Devon for 32 years and then moving to East Knoyle in Wiltshire in 2016. Her love of painting started at a young age but through life events and changing circumstances she was never formally trained. Undaunted, she is a fantastic example of how anyone can paint successfully if they see colours and shapes in everyday scenes – a cow peering over a fence, a beach goer, an overgrown allotment, a Moroccan souk!

Observing the colours of life and transferring them to paper and canvas makes Val feel inspired and happy. Her love of ‘loose’ watercolour and latterly her intense colour combinations in acrylic, oil and collage have led her to give regular workshops and exhibit all over the Westcountry including several times at the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy.

She now has a fabulous studio in East Knoyle, Wiltshire – come drop in!
